  • Crav'n Caribbean

This is one of my favorite Jamaican restaurants in town. He has both traditional Jamaican dishes that are done really well, and then he also does some very unique dishes as well. He has blown up for his oxtail cheesesteak, which people love. He has a very unique take on his heritage and lots of cool dishes for people to try.

  • Renaldo's Culinary Experience

The name pretty much explains the vibe you get here: It's a culinary experience. It's takeout only, but each of his dishes is very unique, and it does give you an experience that you won't find anywhere else. One of my favorites on the menu is his viral oxtail pizza.

  • Archive CLT

Archive CLT is a Black-owned coffee shop and cultural hub founded by Cheryse Terry. It offers coffee, teas, and pastries while showcasing Black ephemera, including books, posters, and music. The space preserves and celebrates Black history, serving as a community gathering spot. Located on Beatties Ford Road, it fosters connections and cultural education.

  • Bird Pizzeria

Bird came up with their own unique pizza dough, and it's phenomenal; it's the best pizza in Charlotte, I think. This small pizza shop is local and family-owned —it's run by a husband-and-wife team. It started as just a window and has now expanded into a full-on restaurant. I always make sure to add the hot honey drizzle to my pizza there!

  • Sub One Hoagie House

Sub One Hoagie just celebrated their 30-year anniversary: They're one of the oldest Black-owned resturants in Charlotte. They've kept their prices very affordable for the community, and they have great sandwiches that people should check out. I like their Chicken Philly, and they also have regular Philly cheesesteaks and cold-cut sandwiches.

  • Lottie’s Cafe

Lottie's Cafe, located at 210 East Trade Street in Charlotte's Queen City Quarter, is a family-owned establishment offering craft coffee and elevated café fare. Their menu features breakfast bowls, comfort food classics, and globally inspired dishes. Operating daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Lottie's plans to expand into evening service with cocktails, beer, and wine.

  • Eggroll Company

Eggroll Company specializes in gourmet egg rolls with unique flavors. Their menu includes options like Uptown Steak, Uptown Chicken, Pizza, and Veggie Delight. They have a brand new stall at Camp North End and these jumbo egg rolls are some of the best I've ever had.

  • Lorem Ipsum

Lorem Ipsum is a full sensory experience with meticulously curated music by local and international DJs spinning vinyls, complemented by a selection of cocktails, wine, beer, and spiritless drinks from award-winning mixologist and owner Justin Hazelton.

  • 3rd & Fernwood

3rd & Fernwood is a Southern, seasonal, meat & three restaurant by four-time James Beard-nominated Chef Greg Collier and Subrina Collier. The menu blends Southern flavors with West African influences, offering dishes like candied sweet potatoes and fried chicken sandwiches. This elevated dining experience is a must try in Charlotte for me.

  • Beyond Amazing Donuts

Beyond Amazing Donuts (B.A.D.) lives up to its name, serving some of the best, freshest, melt-in-your-mouth donuts in Charlotte. They serve a variety of unique donut flavors, along with amazing cinnamon rolls and fritters. This is my go-to donut shop in Charlotte.

  • Nile Ethiopian Restaurant

Nile Ethiopian Restaurant & Grocery offers authentic Ethiopian cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. I love dishes like the veggie sampler and beef tibs for their rich flavors and generous portions. They really treat you like family here. The establishment also features a grocery section with all your favorite Ethiopian products.

  • Brewton's Cafe

Brewton's Cafe is a late-night eatery offering a fusion of American, seafood, and soul food. Popular menu items include the ultimate crab-stuffed salmon, their famous crab fries, wings, and one of my favorites - the honey hot chicken sandwich. This place is only open late night, but has quickly become a Charlotte staple.

  • The Pauline Tea-Bar Apothecary

The Pauline Tea-Bar offers a serene environment with a variety of herbal tea blends like Lemon Ginger, Elderberry Echinacea, and Turmeric Ginger. The cozy space, enhanced by soothing aromas and complimentary pastries, provides a relaxing experience. I visit here often to grab tea and catch up with friends in a relaxing environment.

  • Mad Dash

Mad Dash stands out for its delicious, fast-casual comfort food with a modern twist. The menu features mouth-watering dishes like their award-winning fried chicken sandwiches, and flavorful sides like their Mambo fries, which is a must order. Mad Dash has quickly become a local favorite.

  • Q's Culinary Cart

Q's Culinary Cart, a popular burger and hot dog spot, is celebrated for its hand-pattied, seasoned burgers and all-beef hot dogs. I love the unique topping combinations and the chef's commitment to ensuring a flavorful experience. They have built a reputation for quality and they have my two favorite hot dogs in the city - The BBQ Beanie and The Southern Boy.

  • Ten58 Sport Bar and Lounge

Ten58 is a top choice for those seeking a lively atmosphere with great food and drinks. Known for its flavorful dishes and signature cocktails, it's a perfect spot to unwind with friends or watch the game. The attentive service, fun vibe, and dishes like their collard green dip and their strawberry henny margaritas make it a standout in the area.

  • The People’s Market Elizabeth

The People's Market offers a diverse menu featuring breakfast and lunch options, including vegan and gluten-free choices, coffee, cocktails, and smoothies. The spacious, casual atmosphere is ideal for both dining and working remotely. They have a full menu of food and also a full bar with great cocktails. The market also features local art, enhancing its community-focused vibe and is a great place to get some work done.
