  • African Grill and Bar

"When I eat here," says Miller, "I think From Ghana, with Love.' Nowhere else in Denver, besides maybe someone's home, may you get a real taste of West African food, and a lot of vegan dishes. I like the whole fish dishes like red snapper, or tilapia, that may be served fried, grilled, or baked. Top your fish with some of the peppery jerk curry or the sublime combination of okra and tomatoes. Be sure to wash it down with some spicy ginger drink or some tart bissap, a hibiscus drink."

  • The Blazing Chicken Shack II

"This small eatery in east Denver serves up old school, and I mean 00000llildddd school, soul food. love the spicy, coarsely ground hot links, but you should definitely scoop up the creole gumbo, oxtails and gravy, or pig ear sandwiches when available."

  • Genna Rae’s Wings

"Blocks away from Denver's historic Manual Training High School, the food at this small take-out joint makes me jealous of the students who have such good food within reach. I recommend the bountiful, skillfully fried catfish sandwich and the incendiary jerk chicken sandwich."

  • Jamaican Grill

"On point Jamaican food in northeast Denver. If you like seafood, try the 'Hellshire Style Escoveitched Fish,' which is whole red snapper that is carrots, and sliced bell peppers and onions."

  • Le French - 9+CO

"This fine dining experience may be found in Belleview Station, an area just south of Denver. Dishes feature French classics and interesting spins on dishes from Senegal. For a soul-satisfying and healthy meal, I recommend the Nicoise-style salad with a grilled salmon filet."

  • Swirk Soul Food- Southern Catfish and BBQ

"Great soul food is frequently found in strip malls, and this restaurant in Aurora, one of Denver's eastern suburbs, doesn't disappoint. I'm a fan of the 'Southern King Platter Dinner,' which includes a crisp fried fish fillet, two pork spareribs, two expertly fried shrimp, a hot link, barbecue chicken and a couple of side dishes."

  • Welton Street Café

"Home of Mona's Wings 'n' Tings. Located in Five Points, Denver's historically Black neighborhood, this restaurant serves some of the best soul food in town. The fried chicken is celebrated, as are the traditional side dishes like candied yams, greens, and macaroni and cheese. There are also Caribbean specialties like 'pates,' which are filled pastries. If you get the delicious rum cake, I suggest avoiding any breathalyzers in the immediate future."
